Path to Paris - Concluded

It has been an honor to vie for a spot on the US Olympic Team, a journey that has left me grappling with how to put the whole thing into words. The US Olympic Trials were a hard week of competition getting a wide range of conditions and ultimately I was not at the level I needed to be to win athlete selection.

To the countless supporters, donors, and foundations, your unwavering support is beyond words. I deeply appreciate the opportunities you gave me to train and compete at my best. Thank you! I can’t thank each of you individually enough for your support and for enabling me to pursue this dream. It was truly a remarkable team effort.

The trials were a test of resilience with promising races that didn’t yield the needed results. It was an incredible week, challenging, exciting, frustrating, and some really fun battles on the race course.

Throughout the campaign, when bills loomed or credit cards needed settling, somehow a timely donation from a foundation or individual would emerge. It happened numerous times and is a testament that everything falls into place. A reminder to relentlessly pursue dreams.

Since the trials I have returned to California, began my search for my next job opportunity likely in mobile software development, worked with Daniela Moroz to help her prepare for Paris, and caught up with friends and family.

I’m proud of the campaign that I ran with dedication and focus. Five+ years invested, no regrets, but pursuit comes with sacrifice. Many opportunities and pathways lie ahead, but for now, some time to reflect, catch up with friends/family, and time to reset before the next chapter.

Thank you for your support!

Evan

To Shoreline Cafe:

A special thank you to Steve Marsh and the Shoreline Cafe team for their support during this Olympic campaign. Unfortunately I did not earn athlete selection, but I’m proud of the campaign I was able to run. Through the support of Shoreline Cafe, private donors, and sponsors I was able to pursue this special endeavor and put my best effort forward.
